Swan Lake?

The view out our back window looks out on to a farmers field.

Each year the farmer rotates the crops he plants from corn, soya beans, wheat and leaving it fallow.

After the winter snowfalls when the snow starts to melt and spring ushers in the showers and torrential rains we actually end up with a small lake for a while before the land thaws out so the water can disappear.

One year we had a musk rat swimming around in our winter lake. This year we've had some other guests.

First, thing in the morning we found two new friends.

Momma and Papa Canada Goose
Well, we think they liked their new found watering hole where they could swim a little and stick their necks under for any bugs and grubs to eat. The reason we know they liked it is because soon enough...

Momma and Papa and a couple of friends...
Yep, they invited two more friends to swim along and enjoy the view.

Well, you know what happens when 4 Canada geese like a new watering hole don't you?

Fortunately this is all that came along
There goes the neighbourhood!!
